Is it really October??? Where has the time flown? WOW… Crazy right? Guess that means we have been super busy right? Ok, well its true, its true… I’ve been creating dolls like a crazy woman. And as I am doing my thing, I get a very nice comment on my Instagram and next thing I know I was making this awesome doll for a special order. The dolls name is “Gypsy Soul” She is beautiful. I started making ornament type dolls for the upcoming event in December. So when I started posting some pictures of one of the dolls, I got some very nice feedback. These dolls can take about 2-3 hours to make since I do all kinds of fun stuff on them. Every little bit of the doll comes to life all on its own as I add a little of this and a little of that…Sometimes I have to hunt for the perfect fabric or lace. Those kinds of things I don’t always have on hand. Colors make a huge difference…what if I don’t have the perfect glitter? So hunting I will go! So when I put Gypsy Rose together, her scarf had to be perfect and I didn’t have any fabric on hand that fits her the way I wanted it to. My son just happened to be home and wanted to go with me…he is really helpful. SO we headed to Joann’s Fabrics and found the perfect fabric. I wasn’t quite sure of it at first because the colors weren’t quite what I had envisioned. But once I matched it up with the dolls hair, it was a match made in heaven.
So, I made the scarf…it looked great…and the tassel skirt looked blah..blah blah blah…so after having to make 2 scarf pieces to get the right size to fit the doll head, I had that extra piece…then the light came on! I started cutting out triangles. Then I stitched them up and added those to the blah tassel skirt…and wow! What a huge difference. The rest just fell into place…OH..and being a Gypsy, she needed those huge earrings right! So while we were out shopping for the fabric we also made a pit stop at Burlington Coat Factory…they have a great clearance section for jewelry. There buried behind another pair of earrings was the perfect treasure. Those little-hooped earrings were perfect in all ways…the size, the bling, the color…they were just waiting for me to take them home. I don’t go there often, but now that I know they have that clearance section…I’ve gone 3 times and found at least one piece I must have for my dolls…
So, here is a photo of Gypsy Soul. I also made a postcard out of her photos and gave them to her new owner. This is my plan to give to the new doll owners as a Thank You for purchasing our dolls.
Have a Splashing Blessed Day
Chrissy
