lets get started saying

Escape to a sun-kissed shoreline where watercolor and paper come together in layers of color, texture, and tropical beauty. In this class, you’ll create a vibrant mixed media collage inspired by island blooms, gentle ocean waves, and the relaxed spirit of paradise.

Watercolor painting of a green monstera leaf with holes on a white background, inspired botanical art.

The ocean itself is brought to life in a unique way. The rolling waves are created from handmade paper, adding beautiful texture and soft, organic edges that mimic the movement of water meeting the shore. The combination of painted paper and handmade fibers gives this piece a tactile, handcrafted quality that celebrates the imperfect beauty of handmade art.

Each element of this artwork is individually painted in watercolor, carefully cut by hand, and thoughtfully arranged to build a dimensional composition. The lush hibiscus, tropical foliage, and delicate plumeria flowers are layered like pieces of a story, allowing each painted element to shine on its own while becoming part of a larger scene.

Most supplies can be purchased at your local art supply store, Amazon, and a hardware store. If you choose not to use Amazon, Blick is also a great place to purchase art supplies.

If you would like to use my watercolors, you can purchase them on Rippledwaves.com.  I also have a limited set of watercolor brushes that I use available.

This project has multiple steps and layers.  Drying time is important and is best to dry naturally.  This can take a few hours or longer.  Take your time…enjoy the process and dont forget to breathe and have a glass of lemonaide or tea.

There are a few extra videos that I share with this lesson.

I am here to help you with any issues you may come across.
