Chatterbox
This is one of my favorite places to visit. Pacific Star Winery. What a view right? I have met so many wonderful people here and is probably one of my favorite places to sit , relax and socialize. There is nothing like the West Coast during the winter. The sunsets are amazing, the sun rises are chilly, the air is fresh and crisp! I only wish I lived closer!!! I took this photo in 2014 and did a little photoshopping with it…Love it!!! Chaos – FEEDBACK FORM There is a little story about how I came up with the title of this page. I am sure many of you have…

Whimsy Watercolor Christmas Tree
DOWNLOAD I kept seeing this fun little Christmas tree on Pinterest and thought it would be great to paint up. I think watercolor was the best choice for this little tree. I then added all its little bling bling to really make it pop! Merry Christmas my friends!!! Supply List Each image has the number of the paint circled. I used these colors in this painting. As always, you can choose your own colors and paints that you already have on hand. Watercolor Paper, your choice. I used a book with natural hand made papers. Downside, the adhesive didn’t stick as well. Watercolor paints are by Prima. I love these…

ST Salutations!
Stratis Tempore is a beautiful rendition of time passing as we all go through this years ups and downs. As I sat back and pondered time passing I was motivated to translate my thoughts and ideas onto a canvas. The layers begin to lay down like the event that have passed in time. Each moment, a day, weeks, months, and even years have passed by. Join me in your expression of time on your very own canvas. Create your one of a kind art piece to share with those you have spent time with on your journey through time. All student levels are encouraged to participate . Each and everyone of us…

ST Final Thoughts
After I finished this painting, it came to my attention with the advise of Brenny, that it needed one more element to tie it all together. I was missing TIME. I was thinking that the painting looked aged which represents time, but it still lacked the written element of time. So, I added just a touch of time, the clock face..with just simple stamping of the Titan Buff paint. I still diluted the paint with floetrol so it gave it the transparency it needed. I didnt want to change the look of the painting, just added a hint of time to make it all blend together. Now, I feel that…

ST 3 Stencil
https://vimeo.com/483361518 DOWNLOAD Adding stencils can be so fun. There are soooo many choices with this part. Do you use a purchased one or do you use one you make? I only wanted to add a hint of shapes in this painting and I chose the little squares. I honestly am not sure where I found this stencil, possibly at Michaels or even Tuesday Morning. I did the search on Amazon and could not find this particular stencil. So use what you have, or make up your own!!! You could cut tiny squares from cardboard. Quick and easy and something more unique to your owe painting. Or you could make a…

ST 7 Wired Up
https://vimeo.com/483376210 DOWNLOAD I love working with wire. I created lots of beautiful jewelry with different types of wire. Copper is probably my favorite. Its beautiful, in expensive, the colors you can create are amazing. I also like sterling wire too. Nothing like a fine piece of sterling wire. Typically I would use copper wire, but as you see, this piece needed brass wire. One trick to get your wire to patina really well, run it through some steel wool. Wipe it off with some a rag dipped in some 91% alcohol. It cleans up the wire and leaves it in the rawest stage. When you leave it unsealed, it will…

ST 5 Hammer Time
https://vimeo.com/483368241 DOWNLOAD Ballpeen Hammer is a nice small hammer that I like to use for small jobs. It doesn’t have the best control of the texture that it leaves, but I love the random rustic look when its all done! This is what I used in this project. I love working with wire! Although we are not doing a lot of wire working here, its still so much fun to hammer the wire and feel it change right in your hands. Remember this…DO NOT OVER HAMMER the wire. It will become brittle and snap just like I showed you in the video. You can be a little more creative here…

ST 2 Next Layer
https://vimeo.com/483354328 DOWNLOAD Floetrol – when mixing heavily pigmented paints such as Golden and Liquitex, you dont need to use much paint. It’s more like 4-6 parts floetrol and 1 part paint. Stir really well to get them blended in nicely. I would not use water. I have found that adding more floetrol works better. You can find a million videos on acrylic pouring now, and many you will find use Floetrol. One thing to keep in mind with Floetrol, it does get goobers…so you may want to strain the medium and put it in a bottle for quick and easy access. Put a cap on it to prevent more goobers…

Chaos 2 Texture
INTERACTING SYSTEMS https://vimeo.com/461219381 DOWNLOAD Adding textures can be so much fun! This part you will be adding the embossed diamond shapes or squares depends on how you look at it! You can use what ever you want for the embossing… You can actually add paint directly into the medium instead of powders. If you like the powered pigments, I got these great mix of colors from Amazon. The link here goes to a different brand from what I currently have and love, but these will work great and are similar to the ones I have. You can do the hunt for smaller quantities, but these are probably the best ones. …

Chaos 2 Final Touches
CHAOTIC BEHAVIORS Final Touches is probably the longest video. I thought it was best to keep this all together as the steps go rather quickly from here. Below is one extra segment I thought you might like and possibly try. I did not use this technique in either of these projects, but hey…you can now if you want to!!! https://vimeo.com/462036370 DOWNLOAD Liver of sulfur creates an awesome effect with copper. It adds extra added interest into my artwork. You will be learning a quick way to use liver of sulfur. You do need to keep in mind that the stuff stinks like rotten eggs, it’s not healthy for you…

Chaos 2 Details
DETERMINISM https://vimeo.com/461263221 DOWNLOAD This part I decided to use some marble powder. I learned this technique while watching some art videos on YouTube. Unfortunately I cant find the video…I thought I had liked it…oh well.. she added sprinkles of the marble powder to her painting so I thought I would try it out. The first time I added marble powder was on this painting “ Perspicuity” You can see how amazing the end results can be. With this painting, I didn’t add as much, but you can still feel the texture and see it, but not like Perspicuity. I know this is something I will be adding to future paintings!…
