OA – 7) Cat
Not much is needed for this part. I included several sizes of the cat so you can pick and choose which works best for your canvas. If you are not using a 12×12 canvas the size may need to be different. Cut each size out and put it on your canvas to see which fits better to your likings. Once you have your template/stencil cut, this will go really quick. PS, your cat does not need to be a black cat. I can see an orange one or even a white cat here. Maybe even a fun gray cat. DOWNLOAD One more note… although this is a very busy painting,…

OA- Extras
Making a Needle Punch You will need: scrap polymer clay about the size of a golf ball or smaller a large 3 inch embroidery needle a toaster oven (preferably for crafts only) https://vimeo.com/578256600 DOWNLOAD Using Topaz Restyle in Photoshop Unfortunately, this plug in is no longer available. Topaz Labs has discontinued this plugin. They replaced it with Topaz Studio2 which I do have and will explore it soon to see if I can change the colors like I can here with Restyle. I will update this video if this is the case. https://youtu.be/o4bMzObG5UE Creating Handmade Glitter Paste Creating my own glitter texture paste was so fun…I enjoyed the process and…

OA – 8) Final Assembly
Before gluing this all down, you will be adding the shadow of the cat and other shadowy areas. After that…you will glue your assembled pieces down… I really hope you enjoyed the process of creating your Orphan Archetype painting. Please share with me your finished paintings, I would sure love to see them. My instagram is @wingsnscales and #wingsnscales. Or I can just add them to this lesson to share with everybody who is taken this course. Many Thanks and Hugs!!! https://vimeo.com/645836514 DOWNLOAD One last bit about the Orphan Archetype… I found this slightly interactive website on a Prezi that is quite interesting. Take a peek! BEFORE AFTER I am…

OA – 6) Assembly
Now that you have all your pieces attached to each other, its time to assemble them. I know its werid…doesnt that kind of mean the same thing???? Its time to connect those pieces together to complete the wall. The bricks are ready to be assembled to create your wall! Sooo…lets get those bricks all stacked and attached together.. https://vimeo.com/644169265 DOWNLOAD This video is just the continuation of putting all your bricks together. Some elements you can always add at a later time. But once all is glued down…you wont be able to sew things on as easily. So during this stage, you definitely want to do all of your stitching.…

OA – 5) Gathering/Attachment
Gathering This section will take you the longest to get through. Make sure you have everything set up and ready to go! Gather up many objects of possibilities and put them in your favorite bowl. Run your fingers through it…feel each piece and let your imagination take over. My suggestion is to watch the videos first. You can do the speedy quick view so you have clear understanding of how these get attached. I would really love to see your end project.. Of all the courses I have taught so far, this one has so much more potential. DOWNLOAD Connecting the pieces together One thing to keep in mind, is…

OA – 4) Wall
This stage is so fun! You will be tearing up your texture paper into strips. No need for making straight tears, just do the best you can…they will look amazing no matter what. https://vimeo.com/643097500 DOWNLOAD About 19 minutes into the video, I mix 3 colors together to create a beautiful purple. I mixed Prussian blue, Magenta and Raw umber together. I strongly suggest mixing colors if you do not have all the colors I use. Also…I noticed towards the end of this lesson, some of the painting is off camera…sorry about that! https://vimeo.com/643098017 DOWNLOAD Next, you will be adding more details on each piece, drips, splatter, etc. Make sure…

OA – 2) Color
This is where you can let your frustrations out…LOL tearing up paper can be so fun dont you think? Try to tear the paper where the rough edges are on the pieces you want on the painting. Those rough edges create added texture! Keep your scraps…one never knows if you can use them in another piece later on. https://vimeo.com/642543034 DOWNLOAD Choosing your colors is so important. You can use what ever paints you have on hand, but I highly recommend making a small investment in the Golden Fluid paints. Yes, they are NOT cheap, but I have bought both cheap craft paints and professional paints and there really is a…

OA – 1) Prep
While this archetypal character doesn’t literally need to be an orphan, they’re often looking for a new family. Orphans make great protagonists because they’ve got a lot to gain if the story goes in their favour. Usually, they’re a regular person that’s snatched from obscurity, becoming the main character in the story. Strengths: Empathy, survival instinct, a sense of being chosen Weaknesses: Lack of self-confidence, eagerness to please Motivation: To connect, be accepted, and be understood Examples: Harry Potter, Oliver Twist, Luke Skywalker – Star Wars, Frodo – The Lord of the Rings READ MORE Prepping the substrate is quick and easy to do. There is no need to make this smooth, in fact, the more…

Orphan Intro
Orphan is a very unique creation that I came up with after pulling an Archetype card. I had no idea this was going to happen as once I began to put it together. Things just started making so much sense as I went along the process. This project is a hunter- gatherer type of painting. Go on a little hunt in your art/craft room and around the house. Gather up all the little findings and put them in a container of sorts. I love unique bowls or cups. When my mother in law passed away a couple of years ago, hubby and I went to her house to join his…

7-BD Final Assembly
https://vimeo.com/598596882 DOWNLOAD Sorry, my phone was having technical issues and part of the video was cut off. But fortunately it was just adding the gel medium on the back of the painting. So this is it!!! The finale! I hope you enjoyed creating your own Bona Dea. She has such a lovely face and grace about her. Thank you once again for participating in Art Bundles for Good 5! I am very grateful to be asked to be an instructor again! Thank you so much John Bardos! You are doing a wonderful thing here and I am so glad to be part of it. This is my 3rd round and…

6-BD Embellishing
Embellishing a painting can either ruin your art or add to it. My personal experience on this is that it will only make your art piece go from, GREAT to SPECTACULAR as long as you dont change the feeling of the piece. You do not want to add so much to your painting that it is no longer a painting unless that is the plan for your end results. When you order a pepperoni pizza with olives, you want to see your pepperoni, not just the olives! Art is very subjective. What one person views of a piece is totally different than that of another. Its just how it is…

5-BD Outlining
https://vimeo.com/598628211 DOWNLOAD Outlining is one of the best parts that make this piece pop! I included some really close up images below just to get a closer look. I like to see close ups myself, so why not share them with you too!

4-BD Lips, Deeper Colors
https://vimeo.com/598623629 DOWNLOAD Just remember, WATER is your best friend when it comes to watercolors. And lots of paper towels! If you prefer not to mix colors, you can use other watercolor paints to your palette. I would definitely test the colors before using them. Sometimes watercolors can be deceiving! 🙂 ***I also forgot to mention in the supply list about the metallic paints. This is optional, you can use whatever color you want for the eyeshadow.

3-BD Face And Body
https://vimeo.com/598608686 DOWNLOAD This part you will be painting the face. I love it when you add unnatural colors to faces. It creates more interest. One thing to keep in mind, especially with these colors, is they can look like the face is bruised. So use them either sparingly like I did, or go bold! LOL You can also go with lighter blues or use greens in place of blues. https://vimeo.com/598616026 DOWNLOAD This is the first layer for her hair and more light details. I created her at a slow pace so you can get a better feel of how each layer is put together. And it gives time for the…

Just right click on her and save as… When you print her on paper, make sure you print it as a 5×7. You can print larger if you prefer to create a larger painting. If you have it in the PDF, all you need to do is print the page and trim it down.
