Oh how I love Cultured Sea Glass!
Not only do I love sea glass you can gather up on the sea shore, but cultured sea glass is amazing on its own level.
- Cultured Sea Glass…what the heck is it you ask?
- Is it real sea glass from the beach or ocean?
- Then how is it made you say?
First, it’s not a naturally made bead gifted from our waters. Cultured sea glass is man made from recycled glass, or even new glass if the colors are not found in recycled glass. The recycled glass is hand picked, melted and recreated into beads, not just any beads, but beautiful cultured recycled sea glass beads. Then, molds are made in the shapes which resemble naturally created gems from the beach or ocean. The process continues until a beautiful cultured sea glass bead is formed.
I love the natural beads with their rough edges, their pitted markings and the one of a kind uniqueness. But for what I create, sometimes I need to have that slight perfection, the same size, shape, color to make a piece of jewelry stand out. Both types of beads are perfect in their own ways… I could not have made this beautiful bracelet above without those hand-crafted beads…
Since I am a designer for ZnetShows, we get to see the newest beads first. This part I just love..and we also have challenges. Who doesn’t love a good challenge? Lately, we have been asked to create designs that are off the beading path! I have created stitch markers, key chains, ornaments and a few other fun things other than Jewelry.
Flip on over to my CHALLENGES page and take a peek at what I’ve come up with so far.. There is a new piece I made which has not been posted yet…its a surprise! This page is constantly being updated so I strongly suggest you join our Musings for our newest designs.
