NEW

A hummingbird has many special meanings for people. I thought why not paint one up to share with you all.  I have a hummingbird feeder now in my backyard on the side of our new beautiful patio.

One day, while I was finally able to sit in our amazing pillow chair, enjoying the peaceful (not too hot) afternoon, a hummingbird swooshed in and stopped to take a look at me, I swear it was checking me out! Our eyes connected for like 2 seconds, then it hummed away, but it did a double take and looked back at me before it vanished.

Ive only had one other incident with a bird staring me in the eyes… its a little freaky yet beautiful at the same time.

I swear my Auntie is reincarnated as a bird! LOL

Tiny Traveler Hummingbird

TINY TRAVELER

Among the gardens, he flutters free,
From feeders hung to towering trees.
A gentle hum, and clicking sounds,
A fleeting spark that knows no bounds.

But in a hush, he stops mid-flight,
He meets your gaze, so soft, so slight.
With tiny eyes, seeing you whole,
As if he is peeking at your soul.

Project Description

This beautiful hummingbird is painted on Canson Coldpress 300lb watercolor paper, a favorite of mine for its smooth surface with just the right touch of texture, allowing the paints to blend beautifully. I used a mix of Sakura KOI watercolor and Rippled Waves watercolor paints to bring this piece to life. For most of the painting, I relied on a single brush—one of my absolute favorites—helping me achieve delicate, thin layers. I demonstrate how each layer merges seamlessly to create a soft and enchanting background.

Once the hummingbird is painted, you’ll enhance its natural beauty with Interference Violet powder, adding a shimmering touch that captures the shimmery reflections found in its feathers. This painting is designed to feel soft and delicate, with just the right amount of detail to create a sense of magic and wonder.
