Every person has an inner child which keeps our imaginations alive! I was at a Artisan Craft fair several years ago, where I was selling some of my older works such as these fun fabric art dolls, mermaids! This young girl with her mother stopped by my booth. The girl was maybe 11, or 12 years old and she loved my mermaid dolls. She really wanted to buy one of them, but the mother stood there and told her she was too old to have a mermaid doll. Mind you, my dolls even back then, were not the kind you play with..they were more for hanging on a wall, or putting on a shelf. I just felt so bad for that young girl that her mother just shut her down like that. After more thought on that memory, I realized that it was the mom who I felt more sympathy for. Perhaps she wasn’t able to express her inner child or maybe she does not enjoy the fantasy realm…thought all of that stuff was just for little kids. My belief is nobody is too old to believe in the fantasy realm!
they all have a place in our imaginations…life would be rather boring without them don’t you think?
I have been blessed to be very creative all my life. I started with finger painting when I was a kid..and playing with old fashioned clay. I even got into music a little…so my childhood was quite interesting.
As an adult….photography, sewing, painting, and drawing were always part of my life. The internet opened my world and I was able to expand my skills and fell in love even more with the arts. I have ventured off into jewelry making and altered art a several years ago, and here I am today.
My day job, I am a Para Educator in Special Education for over 21 years now. I share my love for the arts with my students and staff. On the evenings and weekends is where I get lost in my creations. My mind does not stop, you should see all of my doodles.. I hope to create each and every design I have on paper someday although my doodle will probably never end. 🙂
So you ask what makes me unique and different from other designers? Well…to be honest…nothing! We are all creative but in different ways. What I think or believe about myself is that I offer something with a little more uniqueness, more like the outside of the outside of a beautifully decorated box….I see everything as an opportunity for my canvas! I am not perfect, but I expect perfection of myself and my designs. I love unusual stuff…nothing gets tossed…it gets either recycled, re-purposed or if all else fails….donated.
So this is my story and I’m sticking with it….lol
Chrissy the Mermaid
My name is Brenny. I’m the fairy in the creative duo. I have always been fluttering about as long as I can remember. I was raised close to nature and encouraged to explore where my imagination would take me. One could say I was destine to soar.
Brenny the Fairy
Mermaid and Fairy, the two kindred spirits collided in a Friendzy Vision on Treasure Island.
Brenny the Fairy was in desperate need to get her hair under control. All her fluttering about had frizzed her hair into an unruly nest. She was in need of lifting her spirits and a little makeover. She found the only beauty salon located on Treasure Island and decided to check it out. Chrissy was styling hair on the Island which was another one of her creative paths. Brenny flopped onto Chrissy the Mermaids swivel chair where the kindred friendship immediately began. She realized that Brenny was new to the Island and was searching for friends. Chrissy had the perfect idea, and invited Brenny to her house. Chrissy introduced her to her two little mermen, and her husband. They soon became like family.
The two kindred spirits created many amazing crafts together by combining their ideas and talents. Brenny’s wings grew and she ventured off to the East where she now has her own two little fairies. Even though they now live 3000 miles apart, West Coast to the East Coast, they still create together.
We welcome you to enjoy the combined efforts of two kindred spirits.
